weight 175
shoe 10(mens)
Bindings k2 cinch cts
all over riding- not much park though. Been limited by old board and bad conditions though past two seasons.
mainly ride colorado/tahoe/big sky- hitting whistler this year

I'm upgrading from an 155 illusion to a more advanced board. K2 Turbo dream and K2 Happy Hour have been recommended to me. I cant tell much difference other than the Tips and the lift in the HH.

:dunno: Long story short- the Turbo dream says its belly is 245 which basically guarantee's my boot hangs over. specs say the "Wide" is 260 though.
Happy Hour is 255 which is plenty. My old board was 249.
I've looked into being able to demo but haven't found a shop in whistler that offers both, so plan on taking plunge on one of em.

Can anyone give advice or opinions if you've ridden either board?

I'm not completely fixated on K2 but since I like the cinch bindings and old board treated me well figured I'd stick with a em.

turbo dream and happy hour are kickass boards

you don't put your feet in the middle of the board :p.

a little boot hangover is normal and actually best. size tens should be good with a normal size board.

go for the 159 in the turbo if you want better float in powder and fun everywhere else

or 157 happy hour if you want a better carving for pipe and jumps and stuff (still does the rest of the mountain well)

This does not make a lot of sense. First of all, it seems that you are comparing the 161 Happy Hour (which is too long for you) but the 153 Turbo Dream (which is too short for you). Why are you not looking at equivalent sizes?
More importantly, it is not waist width that determines how much boot overhang you have, but width of the boards at the inserts (which unfortunately is not published). Also, you want boot overhang - if there is no boot overhang, the board is wider than optimal.

That said, the Turbo Dream is a fairly narrow board - even the 159 could be borderline with size 10 boots depending on your stance width, stance angles, and the bulkiness of your boots. For the Happy Hour, both the 157 and 159 should work - but do you want a true twin?

I'm only considering 154-57; I actually used the evo.com compare site tool after seeing the turbo in person yesterday. I THOUGHT I was comparing the 154/57s but apparently they were scrambled. I thought their size chart was illogical but quoted it anyway.. :dizzy:sample of edge i read earlier "1253.8mm, 1167.6mm, 1218.4mm, 1269.2mm, 1294.6mm, 1193.0mm"- I now see my error looking on each indiv board. my bad. i apologize.

My First board was very similar to both here are specs - 155 illusion- edge 1213cm, tip 293, waist 249, tail 292, side cut 8.2..

Couple things.

First, try and find the tip/tail widths and average them with the waist. This gives you a better idea of the width at the inserts. If your first board had a wider waist but a more narrow tip and tail (vs other boards) than the width at the inserts may be similar to a board with narrower waist and wider tip/tail.

If it makes you feel better, I was riding a 25.3 waist with size 11 boots. No overhang. I would feel comfortable at 24.5 with a size 10. If you think about it, you are probably losing close to 1cm in the boot going from size 11 to size 10. You are losing less width in the board.

Everyone else here has given sound advice regarding how important the waist measurement actually is (hint: not as important as a lot of people think it is). Whether the TD is narrow overall I'm not certain, but the other thing to consider is that a relatively deep sidecut (often desirable for ability to set & hold an edge and power through turns) will lead to a narrower waist but will still preserve wider width at the contact inserts.
