Boot sizing - odd experience - Snowboarding Forum

So I just picked up my first non-rental setup, and have a question about the boots. I normally wear a size 7.5 shoe, and so I tried on a bunch of boots around that size in different brands/models. In the end I went with what felt best - a Burton Ruler in Size 8 (odd because it is larger than my street size). I am just worried that this will pack down too much over time and be too loose. After an evening kicking around the house and flexing them strapped into the the board, there is still no heel lift. My toes just barely push the liner (and pull back a little when I flex forward).

Should I swap out for a 1/2 size smaller boot, or will this be fine? I know from crappy rentals that loose boots suck!

Take the liner out and put your foot forward in the boot shell.

How much space is there behind your heel?

If only 2 cm... Wear layers of socks.

If it's 2cm then you shouldn't have any problems going to a size 7 shell (7 and 7.5 use the same shell).
