2011 Arbor Westmark: which size? 156 or 159?

Hello Everyone,

I'm able to get a good deal on an unused Arbor Westmark snowboard from 2011. I would use this as my all around board, bit of freestyle, jibs, groomers, some powder,.. just to ride and have fun everywhere in and outside the park.

My only doubt is which size i should get. 156 or 159?
I'm about 5'10" (178 cm), boot size 9 (eur 43) and weight is about 185lbs (84kg) with clothing on.

Here is the size chart for 2011 arbor westmark:
Board Size (cm) Rider Weight (lbs) Waist Width (mm) Boot Size (US Men's)
156 118-198 251 7-9
159 124-204+ 253 7-9

My weight seems ok for both boards and since i won't be in the park all the time i think i should go for 159.

What do you guys think?

Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

I'd go for the one 156 if it was my choice, assuming the 2011 Westmark uses the same camber profile as the '12 and '13. But it's all personal preference

Agree, I was between 200-215 last winter on the 156 and it was fine.

Hi there,
I'm considering buying Arbor Westmark soon, just thinking of a proper size...

Nowadays I ride DC PLY 156,5. I'm quite tall (195 cm, 6'4) and 82 kg (180 lbs) and I hit mostly slopes, park (small/medium kickers), starting to slide rails, boxes etc. I also learn to butter... overall, I'm an all-mountain/park rider still eager to improve...

I wear US12 Burton Ruler and TT30 Flux Bidings (L size). In my DC PLY 156,5 (252mm waist) they seem to fit exactly. The board length seems also fine. And here's my dilemma: which Westmark's size will be good for me regarding information above?

156 (waist 251 mm - 1mm less than Ply) or 159 (2,5 cm longer, but 1mm tail wider than my current board)... what would be the compromise. How would that 2,5 cm of "extra board" (vs my current) affect maneuverability, ease of control, turning and stability while riding slopes, park & pow.

Please help me out. Thanks!!

You could really go either way. The effective edge on the west mark is longer than a normal board that size because of the blunted tips. Even still, I'm not sure that 2.5 cm (basically .5" on each side of your board) would affect maneuverability all that much. I'm between 170-180 and I rode a 153 west mark a couple seasons ago, doing it over again I would've definitely gotten a 156. It's a relatively stable board for being a park board, so as long as your intended purpose isn't going Mach 1, you could ride the 156. If you want to ride faster and do less park and more natural features, go 159.

Or, go 157 Blacklist. With your foot size that would be even more ideal, although not essential, plus the length would be a happy medium and the width would be perfect.

Thanks! I was considering Blacklist too, but 260mm isn't necessary for sure. I don't like that wide boards; had Skate Banana 159W and it felt like axe.

I'll try with 156, check with the bindings and boots, if they don't match well, I'll switch to 159. Should do the job.
