Hey guys. East coaster here.. Been riding for about 10yrs now.

For the last 6yrs or so, i've owned strictly capita stairmasters. I fell in love with my first one, and have bought 3 in my lifetime. I currently have an 09 stairmaster with 2012 union forces.

I need to get a new board. MOSTLY I ride east coast ice, almost always in the park. I do medium - large kickers, lots or rails.

This year Ill be going north more often and in march I do plan on going to vail. Id like something that is soft in the park (need good pop, good flex) but something that can handle its own in pow.

Any thoughts? Thanks guys

What's wrong with the stair master? Is it too soft for you?

Capita makes great boards and the unions are solid bindings. No reason to upgrade unless you have money to burn or they are worn out. If upgrading just because, union contact pro are amazing bindings for what your wanting. Great response and playful.

The capita line is great and if you liked the stair master, the thunder stick is comparable in the line this year. If you want a little stiffer grab a Stevens pro or ultra fear. They all look nice and the Stevens rides nice.

I ride mostly SMOKIN' SNOWBOARDS, HAND MADE LAKE TAHOE USA and have for 7-8 years. It's a little higher up the price range but I have had great luck with them. They have a flat rocker board line that is awesome. Lane knack or deadlung pro models will be softer. The hooligan and Kyle Clancy pro are stiffer and great for a mixer board. I'm bias on this brand since I have become friends with the owners. They are a wild snowboard bunch and a lot of fun to chill with and great all around people. You tour the factory on any given day and one of their pros, at least,is pressing out boards....

Id like to get a new board, and still use the stairmaster. While its still alive & kickin, I beat the heck out of it, and I do have alittle extra money right now to get another board. I was thinking of picking up a demo board from c3-shop but they seem to be sold out of the good ones.

Id love to try out an FK.

Whats good with Lobster boards? Im a big fan of the helgason brothers, id love to support there company if its a quality board for what I am looking for.

I know that they are really just bataleon boards, but is there anything wrong with that?

And to be honest, I am not too sure if I need stiffer, or softer board. Ive been riding a maxed out stance for most of my riding life and ive become so comfortable with it. Id like to shorten my stance a bit to get more flex. So if I am shortening my stance (or atleast would like to) should I go stiffer because ill be more flexable with the board?

As a fellow east coaster I wouldn't recommend a board with tbt if it is the only new board you are buying because it offers less edge contact which isn't so much fun on ice. If you are comfortable with the flex of your stairmaster then there is no need to go stiffer or softer. Narrowing your stance width won't really effect the flex but rather how you ride.

Hm. I am always super jealous of my friends who can throw these sick nose slides down gnarly rails, I try and I can get about half way until my back leg gives out and down I go.

I always accounted that to my maxxed stance because I know the stairmaster is plenty soft.

So you say stay away from tbt? I found a sick deal on a 2013 lobster parkboard 151 for like $260.

I cant afford an ultrafear as much as i'd like to get one. The horrorscope I can afford however. How would this board preform as an all mtn board? A good 90% of my riding is park, but I want to have fun making my own lines through the pow too!
