Hi there I'm looking at picking up my first board, and there is a few goodies second hand.

I have seen this burton custom board but there is no info on it at all.
Can someone point me in the right direction to finding a bit of info on it please?

Also there is a gnu gnu board that looks ok for the Mrs. Would you recommend these types of second hand boards for beginners?

Thanks all

That puppy is from 2001, unless you're a collector or it's free I would avoid it, and as a beginner I might even avoid it even if it's free.

A good beginner board is probably used and 2-3 years old (if budget is no so much of an issue, you can buy last year's stuff on sale or get brand new stuff if you want something shiny but it won't affect your learning experience), has a rockered or rocker camber rocker profile to make it a little easier to learn on, and in the manufacturer's size charts get one that is on the shorter side for your weight so that turning is easy.

If you can state your budget, weight, shoe size, and location you will be riding you can get better answers.

same stats for the mrs.

also the most important thing is to get boots that fit well, board and bindings don't matter much for beginners, anything in your approximate size range will do while you learn.

if you're just starting out lessons are probably 2nd most important after boots, then board and bindings

I don't understand why people think boards somehow expire or go bad?

They don't.

You think the tech is that much farther forward? It's not.

I have 2 Palmer Titanium Channels, one from 2003 & one from 2004.
They rock & I'm sure ride just the same as when Palmer crushed the rest of the world riding them:dunno:

Here is a 1992 Hooger Booger Blaster Asym 159cm.
You wanna know what profile it has? Sure you do.

It has Lib-Techs NEW C3. That's right, Camber dominant Rocker.
1992 people. more than 20 years ago.
