Does anyone have any experience riding the Never Summer Heritage in powder? I'm curious about it's float versus the Cobra.

What he said. Snowolf did a comparison of the Cobra with (among other things) the Heritage. IIRC, the Cobra is better in deep powder because of the narrower tail which allows it to drop more. The Heritage has some setback but is closer to a twin in shape. Both are very damp boards that will just charge through most stuff.

I'm debating between the two. Obviously everyday can't be a powder day. Any difference on the steeps? I like to make belly dragging carves. Will the cobra be stiff enough to dig in? I don't ride the park but I'm into natural features. Just looking for the best ride.

Would it be ridiculous to consider a Cobra and a Raptor as a two-board quiver versus just having the Heritage? Or are they too similar? I'd probably scoop up a Cobra for the season and hope to find a discounted Raptor later in the season. Thoughts?

There would be a lot of overlap and the raptor is a less lively feeling board than the heritage. If you're thinking 2 board quiver, I'd go heritage or raptor and a true pow board over raptor/cobra and heritage/cobra. You could also do the cobra and a more playful all-mt, or park board.

You think I can go with the M/L in the Union Forces versus the L/XL? My shop only has a 161X and they're pushing it on me big time. I'm just not interested in a wide (despite no experience on one) based on what people say on these forums.

What bseracka said - you do not need or want the wide.

For bindings-boot fit, you might have to play around and check. Unless it is the new generation of Forces (with the stage 4 baseplate), the Force baseplate might be borderline/a little short for size 11.5 boots. Burton shrinkage tech does work, but more in the other dimension/overall bulk - there is only so much they can do about the length...

I agree with the comments about the wide. The sales guy pushed it hard, I'm guessing because they didn't have a regular width in a 161. Regarding the bindings I'll have to find some to physically caress and get off the interwebs. Thanks for the help!

So it's a done deal. Here's the result:

NS Cobra 161
Union Atlas M/L
K@ Maysis

I've been rocking an 11.5 boot for the past two seasons. They were on sale so I made them work. No heel slip. Tried some boots on and realized I can get into a 10.5 K2 comfortably which is nice because they easily fit the M/L Atlas's.

Let the season begin...
