Shopping for a board for my wife on evo cause of the black friday sale. She is an intermediate to advanced rider who spends most of her time riding FAST on the groomers and some pow and no time in the park or pipe.
Of the clearance boards on evo i am trying to decide between the Rome Gold and the Burton Deja Vu.
Any lovelies out there have experienc on either of these boards? I lean towards the specs of the Rome but am slightly spooked by the description of 10/10 stiffness. She could handle, and even benefit from, an agressive board but wouldnt like a plank.
I've recently tried the Jones Mothership and for going fast and pow, that's a very nice board but could be also a bit of a plank (compared to my usual ride, the Flagship, it wasn't )
It's a pity that the Ride Farah is discontinued, that would be a nice board that can be ridden agressively, fast and stable, handles pow nicely but isn't a plank, negociating mogul runs is directly fun.
The Salomon Idol was as well a comparable nice ride.
I've been shopping on there for a new medium flexing deck for my lady, so I've been thinking about the Rome Lo-Fi. The Burton Deja Vu is way too soft for what you're describing. My girl demoed it before and it's super soft. The Rome Gold on the other hand, sounds like a plank despite a rocker/camber profile. Did you consider the Rome Vinyl and the Ride Farah? Those seem like much better options than either you chose. Based on how different the 2 you mentioned were, I suspect you need to do alot more research beyond price and pretty graphics.
If she is intermediate to advanced...let her pick...demo and she should pick be able to pick it out. At that level she should want something she can advance on...regardless of price.
I just ordered a Ride Farah based in part on Neni's review elsewhere on the site, thanks Neni !
Triple when I asked the question of FEMALES on this board I was quite aware of the different flexes stated in the descriptions. What I was trying to ascertain was do these boards actually ride like the stated flex on a universal scale or on a womens scale (ie is a rome gold as stiff as kessler alpine). Graphics mean nothing to me but a LOT to many and Price is a consideration for everything in life. Dont know if you meant to sound condescending but it sure came off that way.
I don't know where those sites gets the flex rating... suspecting from the manufacturer (or the temperature in their pockets). I know the Ride Highlife, which is noted as 7, so the same as the Farah, and these two boards have by no means the same flex there is a different scale used for men's and women's boards for these two Ride boards.
