You just picked up a free 1998 Corolla and are asking why it's not a 2014 Lexus GS...
It's a board, if you're looking for a beginner board and it's the right size for you than it's probably a great option for the first bit. But ride that enough and then demo something new, and you'll see the difference.
I bought that very same board back in 1995. Brand new! It was a good board, but today's boards are so much lighter! I put new bindings on mine two years ago, and take it out at least once a season to ride.
Ride that deck into the ground... or practice splitting a board on that board just for giggles.
