Default Anyone got the Salomon Rancho?

Has anyone got the Salomon Rancho? : Snowboards - Snowboard - Salomon

How does it compare to other Freeride Salomon boards like the Powder Snake Derby?

Cheers

Derby destroys that board. The Rancho has one of the worst sidecuts I've ever experienced on firm snow. If you're in deep pow great, but hit a groomer you're fucked.

Cool, thanks. I heard Salomon spent the most on their R&D out of any other board manufacturer. Do you know if this is true?

My old board is a Burton Custom, well out of date now, but doesn't work for me in the deeper pow. I want something a bit more suitable for the backcountry.

Not great if it's easy to catch on the pistes though because I do spend most afternoons on them. Do you think the Derby is up to the job?

i really liked the sick stick i tried, didn't try the derby, seems like it would be weird to ride something that wide on a groomed run.

They definitely spent some money on R and D, but as it goes no one tops Burton in that department except maybe K2.

You can ride it on groomers but the Derby is designed to be ridden small and ripped around in the trees. Might be better off looking at the regular powder snake.

Yeah and also the time machine if you are fine going out of the “freeride” sections of boards. I just picked it up and love how it feels like one of my k2’s from 99.

Cheers for the advice guys, I was pretty stumped before.

I'll definitely take all this into consideration.
