i just got all my gear (online) and we are making sure everything fits. all the boots are from the same company as the bindings except for my wife. hers are salomon boots with ride bindings and the width of the toes is extreamly tight in the binding (it fits very snug). for myself (salomon) and my daughters (burton) everything fits fine and there is a little play as well until you strap evertyhing down tight.
My question is should i get my wife matching (brand) bindings or just a larger size binding? (you see how the pink binding is so much tighter with the boot, the black bindings have about a 1/4" to 1/8" of a gap on each side.)
Also in the boot picture should i have equal amounts of overhang of the toe and heel? i can adjust the back plate to move back further.
Sounds like you have the wrong size bindings for the boots your using. Be sure to check that before purchases. Purchase the larger size binding and you should be fine.
The best approach is of course trying boots with bindings at a local shop to find what works and feels best. Like buying shoes, everything feels different for each person and there is just no substitute for trying stuff before you buy it.
straps all work fine. doesnt change the base of the binding.
Is she using a female binding with her female boots?
I guess in your situation I would probably just purchase bindings from the same company. That way you know the sizing would be correct. That seems odd that a size 7-11 binding would be too narrow for a size 9 soloman boot.
