The Burton Trap

So I bought my son a Burton Chopper, thinking his existing bindings which have the two tracks would fit. Lo and behold, Burton's kids boards use a different 3 hole size then their adult boards. The ONLY bindings that fit are Burton Junior bindings. That really sucks. So I figure why not, I found some Burton Customs JR at, but my son's 5 boots are too tight in the heel cup on the bindings. What to do... so I bought a pair of Burton Ruler Smalls.

So, instead of just spending $160 on a Burton sale priced board, I just spent $450 on Burton gear.

Of course, no exchanges/refunds on sale gear, otherwise I would have sent the Chopper back.

That is the Burton trap...

On the plus side, the boots are speed lace, so I don't have to lace them.

2 tracks? You mean EST? Well the board clearly shows 3 hole pattern... I don;t think they make EST boards for kids do they?

Nope, 2 tracks in the plate like this one...

The tracks are about 2 mm too far apart for Burton kids boards.

So, couldn't you have just got universal disks instead of new bindings

Tried that, universal disks work great with all adult sizes, but there were no disks that would fit the Junior 3 hole pattern. I seriously didn't think they were different, but the junior 3 holes are ~2 mm closer. There is no way to get a non-Burton binding to fit. We went to 3 stores, tried numerous binding plates, no dice.
