Default 2013/14 Capita BSOD

Looking for any opinions on how the new Black Snowboard of Death does in soft / choppy conditions - I've seen several reviews complain about the older model being thrown around a lot so wondering if the new version is any improvement. Open to any alternate suggestions for a versatile freeride board (at any price point) that has similarly strong edge hold when it's icy but is still powder-capable and reasonably poppy. Thanks in advance!

I owned the 162 2012 and 159 2014 BSOD, the new version is IMO much stable in variable terrain. I'm east coast and the edge hold is also great even without Death Grip! Overall excellent board.

Not saying the BSOD doesn't fit the bill, but I'll toss out a plug for the Ride Slackcountry for kicks. This year's model was overhauled, and people aren't saying too much good about it. But the 2013 models and older are incredible boards. I love mine so far this year. I haven't even taken it out in super deep pow, which is supposed to be it's strong point. But it's stable enough to hold an edge on hardpack and can certainly handle some ice but definitely still floaty and playful in softer stuff.

Thanks guys! Any other opinions out there?

Martin, any more detail on your impressions of the board overall?

Ringo : This is my third board and so far it's the easiest one to ride. The board is really stable at high speed and is also very fun to turn/carv with. I haven't try it in powder but it must be great also. What I like the most with this board is shock absorption. You can hit some bad terrain with it and it won't pass too much vibration on your body so you can keep control of your ride easily...
