calculating sidecut radius?

hey,

If specs are unavailable for a board, how do you calculate the sidecut radius yourself?

I have an idea, but it may not be the same way board makers do it.

(I tried searching the forums, if this is a repeat - sorry)

Hey L.I.

Thanks for the reply. (that's the Lib Tech Zucchini, right ? lol)

Thing I'm trying to do is get the exact number. I know the math is possible if you messure 1: the straight line distance between where the side cut starts and ends; 2: the depth of the side cut.

I'm just wondering is there an easy formula people already use?

the formula isn't easy.

m=depth of side cut
R=radius
c=straight line distance from where the cut starts and stops

R^2 - 2*R*M -M^2 = R^2 - (c/2)^2
If you assume M^2 is small when compared to the other quantities this reduces to

R=c^2/(8*M)

Hope this helps.
m=1"
c=39"

R=190" or 4.83 m

is that right? sounds pretty tight?
