So, you and I are basically twins:
Mostly chase storms out west, (but live in MI) looking to free ride powder and trees on black/double black runs. Stay out of the park.
I had a 2011 Custom X 156 and wanted a 2-board quiver as well, so I picked up a Barracuda 157 the first year it came out. I LOVED it for powder and in trees, and it would hold its own for the most part on groomers, it definately didn't have the grip and stability of my custom X in those conditions (duh!).
I just replaced it with a Landlord 159. Haven't had anything super deep yet, but rode in about a foot of soft choppy stuff today with some fast groomers to get back to the lift.
This board is just about perfect for me. It's quite a bit more stable on fast groomers with more bite on hardpack, and with the wider nose and more taper, seems to float even better than the 'Cuda. In theory, the extra width, length, and stiffness SHOULD make it less maneuverable than my old barracuda, but I haven't run into any situation where it has been an issue.
You might want to buy the Landlord, ride it a few times, and decide if you really need a groomer/ice board. This board does well enough in all the conditions I ride in that there's really no point to buying and carrying another board with me all over the country.
If you DO go for a two board quiver, go with the custom X + fish. The C-X will take any conditions you can throw at it.
