Default Broken Burton binding base

This weekend I broke my Burton freestyle baseplate. It was the right foot (I'm goofy)on the front inside right by the toe strap. It cracked right up the front so the strap slot spreads open under stress.Has anybody had this happen to them? I went to my lacal shop and showed them and they said that they had never seen that kind of break before. I talked to Burton and the girl told me that the base is very hard to break in this area and that base failure is rare. They are sending me a new set of bindings for free. I think that is pretty awsome even though they are two seasons old and used about 50 to 60 hours a week. While I wait I bought another pair of freestyles so now I will have a backup

somewhat unusual break but that is burton and they offer lifetime on their baseplates so the warranty doesnt surprise me.
