I bought these last winter (i'm a newbie too)...and they worked perfect for my needs...i think they are reasonably priced for a starter. Saved my wrists a few times....I'm also open though to what other guards are on the market though. I am a designer/artist and can't afford to break my wrists! But yeah these have been great for me. I also suggest Kneepads and a helmet (i took a nasty spill on my last ride and lost confidence)...being all geared up will give u more confidence.

lol just got home from work and looked at my wrist guards...They are the Pro Tec ones and not the other brand posted above...I think I did look at those too, but obviously went for the pro tec. They were around $20. They fit under your gloves pretty good too - a tad tight but your gloves will stretch out a bit...and will become a more comfortable fit.
