New Board

Hey I'm looking for my first board. I'm definitely an intermediate freerider (single blacks out west, everything on the east coast). I'm looking for a good board that would suit me without having to spend a ton of money, but certainly not a cheap board. By the way I'm about 5'10 and about 140lbs. Please let me know what boards you guys would recommend or if more information is need. Thanks.

Salomon time machine 156 $420 retail, arguably one of the best bang for your buck all mountain boards out right now, especially if you want a sintered base. If you don't care about the base then a K2 Raygun 156. You could size down to a 153 in both if you want for better freestyle.

Thanks for the advice I think Im gonna go with the K2, got any advice on what kind of bindings I should get?

I ride K2 IPO, they are the most comfortable bindings Iv'e ever ridden but are a little soft and a little spendy. Union force are stiffer, pretty comfy and very durable. at a good price.

alright cool. and last question, sorry im new to owning a board, will 10.5 boots fit on this board because Ive heard that some boards are too slim.

if you get the 156 you will be fine, the 153 only starts to be questionable of you have less than 10 deg settings on your bindings, even then most would stay with a normal width board. Usually size 12 or larger needs to ride a wide.

Awesome man thank you so much for the advice!

no problem dude, you might want to wait and see if anyone else chimes in.

Hey man.

If you're leaning towards K2, you can't go wrong. With that said, there are two boards that I think you should check out from Never Summer.

Never Summer Cobra (All-Mountain/Freeride, Medium)
Never Summer Heritage (Bigger Mountain/Freeride, Stiff)

Can't go wrong supporting US manufacturing. Reading your post, it sounds like you'd be more comfortable on the Cobra.

Hope the recommendations help man, have fun picking out the new stick.
