Newbie help with board waist width

Hello, newbie boarder here - did it a couple times on rental equipment and just decided to get my own. I was hoping you guys can comment on the waist width on a board I am looking at. It is a 158 cm board with waist width of 250 mm. As I am new, I am not sure my ideal stance but fair to assume that I will be starting similar to typical rentals, probably duck feet 12 degree or so I think. My boot size is a us11 Burton Moto which has shrinkage tech.

Is my waist width likely to be ok or should I get a wide or mid ride? Any comments appreciated

I think you are fine with 250! I have size 15 feet and ride a board with 265 waist, even though it is a little too narrow for me I do not experience any limitations.

If the board is too wide the side-to-side response will not be as good.

I ride a 251mm width board with size 11.5boots and have never had problems… I ride 18/18. Unless you find yourself in some very vertical icy situations, don't worry about it.

One of those very few times in a man's life when shrinkage is a good thing. :-) You should be fine unless you plan on laying belly rubbing carves.
