Rome Anthem or Custom X???

Hey All,

Just started my adventure on the plank this season with a two week trip to Lec Arcs - France - and im now seriously addicted (cant believe i've missed out all these years). I rented planks over there and had some interesting experiences! Generally, cause of my size, my ass got beaten to death with toe drags!!!

Picked it up quickly tho, and love just bombing down the slopes (on and off piste) going at high speed and carving it up. No interest so far in park. So I am looking to get a board that will go fast, hard, turn well and keep edges even on ice.

I am favouring the Rome Anthem, but am also considering the Custom X but am suspicious at the ICS system (seems like to funky to work well.

Any pro's out there to offer some quality input?

Boot size: 12
Weight: 230 pounds (not fat ass just military beef)
Height: 6.3
Age: 28
Budget: any

With a boot size of 12 like me you want to look at the Rome Flag which is the wider version of the anthem. I love it so far and it did pretty good on the ice as well..

Thanks! Do you get much chatter on it - also which bindings did you opt for with the board?

At 230, I would be looking at the Flag in something along the 163-169CM range.
Thanks that's major useful info, I wasn't aware re. the flag and anthem similarities. The flag sounds more suitable!

Is it any decent going fakie - or directional only?

Perfect guys, im definately inclined towards the flag now.

Any suggestions for bindings and boots for the same style of riding - im assessing Rome Targa with the Marshall boots. Prefer a responsive boot, binding and board connection for maximizing downhill speed and cutting?

Avoid the overpriced Burton stuff.

16 Gnu Swallow Tail Carver . 16 NS West . 15 NS Snowtrooper BIA
16 Burton Genesis X . 15 Now Drive

The rome arsenal would be a better choice for responsive purely freeride binding. Another good choice would be the Ride SPi, or many of the other aluminum framed bindings from Union. They generally will be more responsive than a plastic base
