hi i am going to be going on a snow trip with people and the cost for renting a snowboard is A LOT.

my dad figured it'd be better to just buy a board and one from craigslist would do probably but i'd like to ask for advice from the people who know what they're talking about (you guys) or w.e. so i can avoid getting some cheap crappy board that breaks when im over there. so please help.

thank you.

what do you think of...
Nitro Snowboard 160cm (?)
Used Burton Cruzer Snowboards

again, thank you.

First of all, welcome to the forums.

Now that we got that out of the way, there's a big difference between the 2 boards that you posted, the main one just being size. One is 145cm and the other one is 160cm, which is a big difference? How tall are you? How much do you weight? I'm saying this because it's not like you can grab any board you want, depending on your size, you need one board or another. I'm 5'10" and use a board that's 158cm long.

Once we got the height figured out, the first thing I would tell you is skip that Burton. I wouldn't buy a board that has been used for rentals, people don't take care of rental snowboards, and they are usually beat up and not in the greatest condtion. That Nitro doesn't look too bad, but I don't know too much information about it.

I would check out deals online, such as Ebay and other websites, because you can get good deals on NEW boards, and you can get even better deals if you put a package together, such as boots, bindings and the board. Here's one decent board that I came across

Burton Snowboard Burton Blunt Primo Snowboard

i'm 5' 7'' or so. i rather not buy it online because i dont want to have to worry about it coming before THIS saturday. And it may not. so i'd rather just buy it on the spot and for a cheaper price.

i weigh about 135 lbs or so.

thanks for the welcome.

To be honest with u man, the only good board out of all of those would be the Sims, but since you're about 5'7 it's way to small. The only thing that I can tell u is that you should defenitly spend some money on a good board, bindings, and boots because it will pay off in the end. It will make learning a lot easier for u and u would be less likely to outgrow it as quickly once u become a better rider.

One way to figure it out is to find a board that comes up between your chin and nose. The best thing to do right now would be to find a shop that sells snowboards and go there to buy a board. In my opinion, the more money that u put into your first board will make the learning curve alot easier.

Im 135lbs as well..
You realistically need anywhere from 146-154ish, 146 would be more of a park board with 154 being more of a downhill carving board..anywhere in between works well..i ride a 151 so look for those.

You need to keep in mind though that you are renting boots, bindings, AND board for that price.

Buying used boots is generally a bad thing unless they have barely been used. Finding proper boots, even when you have dozens of models at a store is the hardest piece of equipment to buy. Finding used boots cheap that fit you well is going to be very hard on craigslist...

If your buying anything on a limited budget to save cash i would say buy boots and rent the board/bindings.
