Wierd stance, board to small for me?

Started boarding this year and learned on a k2 viper 158 wide. Im 6'4 200 pounds. Picked up that board used and knew it was a lil small but would be eazy to learn on. The bindings were set up 21" apart which felt ok and was pretty much centered on the board. After riding my new board which is a 164 directional and my stance is 22.5 which feels way better on my long legs i figured i would widen my stance on the k2 because i still wanna ride the board sometimes. So i moved the bindings to 22.5 which is the maxed out width on both sides of the boards screw holes and there is a 4 inch diff between front and back now. The board looks like its set up like my directional board set way toward the back. Is this because the board is too small for me and it has to have the 21" stance to be close to centered?
