another binding debate. 09 salomon relay pro vs. 09 k2 formulas - Snowboarding Forum

the gf is getting me bindings for V-day. $200 dollar spending limit.

I freeride mainly, more and more natural terrain hits (nothing major) this season and have been spending a little bit of time in the park.

im really at a toss up between these two bindings can get both the relay pros and formulas for the same price. it was between the targas and formulas at first but i decided i wasnt into the targas aesthetics. then i started reading up on the relays and liked what i was seeing.

im assuming either will be a huge upgrade from my old ride exs. and i will be mounting them on my 08 151 salomon sanchez with vans bfbs.

i know that there are a few salomon fans hiding around here and ive seen the k2s mentioned quite a bit but havnt seen a convo comparing the two or without the 390s or targas being mentioned as well. convince me one way or the other.

I believe the Formulas will fit better with your boot.

wow performance wise they are that similar that it comes down to matching better with the boot?

with boot/binding matches in mind, is there anything to be said about binding/board match. being the relays and the sanchez are both salomon will i see better performance in that pairing due to that?

I've got....5 friends that ride various Salomon Relay models. They absolutely love them for everything from pow to park. I tried out apair one day, but didn't get them adjusted correctly to fit my boots properly (like an amateur, lol) so I can't really give an accurate review.

one more question abut the k2s. they're M (5-8) L (8-11). im an 8 boot. does it matter medium or large for me?

what boot?

if you have a place near you that sells K2 bindings, look for something with the same chassis and see how they fit

i'm going to say you'll likely fit better in a large; you'll just have to move the heelcup forward
