Burton one:50. cracked up toe edge. comparable board?
Hey guys. I just noticed my edge cracking up pretty good. Board is older. I just wondered if anyone had any recommendations for a replacement. Gonna buy used. I'm 200# 5 ft 9. Still pretty much a beginner. Not sure how much a new board will affect my ability. Only ridden mine after a rental 10 years ago. Thanks.

How often do you ride? Pics of the damage? If you think you really need a new board then you should try a few out on a demo day. I couldn't tell from your post if you rode once in the last 10years or if you bought the board ten years ago after renting.

try to find a K2 Raygun, will be easier and more fun to ride than your old board.
if you can afford it this is a ok deal K2 Raygun Snowboard 2013 | evo outlet

I meant that I went for the first time 10 years ago...rented there...bought used off eBay shortly after. I havent ridden a lot and normally once a year which isnt worth it. I live in northern ohio about 40 min from cleveland. Not a miuntain riding beginner. I'm a hill beginner. I can however stay up! So here's the rub- my little sister moved to salt lake... big skier now. I've ridden once in Wisconsin this year and plan to go this weekend or next.

I'm looking to increase my ride time quite a bit. My son tried a board last weekend and wants to go to a resort. (Hes 7). So I also have my kids and a few friends now(had a couple friends before not just now) to start
Going with and more often. Ill try to out up a pic tonight of the cracking. I found a k2 something and a burton balance used for about $50 but try to wait to end of season. Rather find me a cheap decent used board and put some money in getting my son some equipment if he likes it at the end of the season. Thanks for the input so far guys.

Pretty much anything made in the last three years will be better. Just Google whatever model you find on craigslist and if it says soft or medium flex and rocker in the description you will be fine.

How can you tell its age? What would you want a hard file for also? Ill check into some ofnthe models I found. I've read that the right board can make a big difference. So we will see if I try some how they help or hurt.

usually the seller will state the model year in the description, if they don't, ask them. expect to pay half retail price for last years models, and about 1/3-1/4 price for 2-3 year old models. don't buy older than 5 years. You should be able to find gently used 2-3 year old board and bindings for $150. buy new boots that fit, even if they are cheap ones.

What do you mean "hard file"? if you meant flex; hard flex boards are for riding fast and steep slopes, big mountians. soft and medium flex are for learning and general having fun on shallower slopes and doing freestyle riding.

yes the right board can make a difference but will never replace rider skill, they just make it easier to do what you want to do, which in your case is get better.

please read some of the stickies (red topics) at the top of this subforum page for better info on new board styles, specifically the "rocker, camber, and everything in between" thread.

Ok great. Yes I meant flex. Ill read the stickies. Thanks for the input and some guidelines.

I borrowed my little cousins pink board. Nice setup though. boy to give it a shot. He didn't even Cate about the pink. Rode a 30 ish degree hill to the bottom about 100feet. Long enough to get a feel before he stopped but short enough to run back up. He loved it and stays up on his own. It was awesome. Now the needs to be able to stay ahead of him.
