I have a last years Lib T Rice Pro and am looking for a new board that's more playful, but I don't go in the park very much... I want it to be different than the T Rice Pro.. I was looking at a NS Proto HDX or NS Ripsaw.. Any Advise or suggestions would be great.

Thanks

Those boards aren't all that different. They are the same general idea of a camber profile but with varying amounts of camber or rocker(with the ripsaw's camber actually being closer to the c3 camber profile because of increased positive camber zones), they are all true twins, the proto should even be about the same flex while the ripsaw claims to be pretty stiff. With the TRice you get added edge hold with magnetraction, with NS you get vario power grip.

Thanks Naturesabre... Any suggestions? I want something with a little more flex, I find the TR is awesome for just bombing down.. not as fun on anything else... The board I bought and am returning is the Proto HDX because it's way too short, but the guy who sold it to me said it was a good size 155 and I'm 200lbs 6ft.. and you guessed it.. it was the only size left in the Proto lol

Sorry man I'm not a suggestion guru. I haven't been around long enough to know every board inside and out(I just read A LOT of the stuff going on in the snowboarding world so I've get tech covered, but which boards rock what tech I need to use the interwebs for :p) but I know at least a few that a lot of people like are the K2 turbo dream(it is rated more on the stiff side though), even though the proto is not thaaat much different it's an awesome one, and the arbor coda is gonna be different with regards to flex and on snow feel(pure rocker, still boasts good edge hold because of their System rocker) but is still considered a mountain twin(has slight setback I'm almost positive). If you're looking for a more freeride oriented board that is still called an all mountain, you're gonna start venturing into stiffer boards and bigger setback(for the most part). More freestyle oriented boards are gonna be basically what you are riding but with softer flex unless you choose to go with a flat camber profile which I've never ridden so I can't comment on it.
EDIT: yup coda is a directional twin

Jeff - I'm 5'10" 185 and bought a 157 T Rice mid season. I'd classify myself early intermediate rider and I spent one day on the hill with a T Rice and it beat my ass! I found it unforgiving and you had to be on your game at all times. I like to relax and ride lazy from time to time so it wasn't for me.

I picked up a 2013 Arbor Coda 159 on the cheap and have been in love with it. Extremely forgiving yet I feel in complete control still at 40 MPH+. It feels less squirrely between the feet than the t rice did even though its full rocker (might just feel that way because I know if it twitches a little i'm not going to catch an edge).

I have no reason to be but I'm still a bit intrigued by the Rossi one and jibsaw and yes asym. Think the camrock profile would be nice on hard icy days.

So many people think they want a hard charging board until they get one and it beats them up.

If you would like a deck that is "forgiving" to ride, not "squirrel y" per a true rocker, but still can hold an edge and give you a solid, confident ride, you should seriously consider a deck with a RCR profile. Get a twin or near twin version and you will find your "happy" place and it will become your go to deck 9 days out of ten.

I have a Trice HP and love the board, but it is getting a little beat up after 4 yrs. I just ordered a Ripsaw myself, thinking that they'd be similar boards, but maybe the ripsaw would be even more aggressive. Anyone have any thoughts on how the two boards compare?

When you say you want the board to be more playful, do you just mean softer flex? You said you don't really go into the park. It seems like the photo may be a nice fit for you, but it also doesn't seem like it if very different from the Rice, so it would be more of a replacement. Do you ever get to ride powder?

How about Jone mountain twin, Lib TRS or Burton Custom? All a little softer and more playful boards that get a lot of love.
