Default Just started, hope I didn't make a mistake with purchases!

Hey guys

I just started boarding and got a instructor/friend to teach me. 2nd time out, starting to link turns (on rental equipment!) So I decided it was time to jump in...

Since I work at a large sports store, I went and bought what we carried with my staff discount. Given that it's pretty late in the season, many things were pretty much picked over. Let me know what you guys think...

I'm 5'8, 160lb.

Lib Tech T.Rice MTX 153
Bent Metal Restraint bindings
Nitro Anthem boots

(I know the board most likely isn't the most beginner friendly board... but I talked it over with the guys at the store and they think for the $300 I can get it at, I might as well get a board that I won't outgrow anytime soon!)

I don't know about the bindings, but everthing else is fine. That board is awesome. It'll defenitly be slightly harder to learn on but once u become better that board will be perfect for u.

You get a gold star. Especially if your a newbie and on your first attempt at buying something and legallyillegal didnt call it absolute garbage.

Thanks... makes me feel a lot better since I had some worries whether the setup is too high end for a beginner!

Might as well fill out the rest of the info... I'm 19, ride mostly in Alberta and hopefully BC sometime soon. Pretty horrible snow conditions here in Edmonton right now because of the rather odd winter season, but I'm still loving every moment of it!

My boots are size 9, and I believe my bindings are setup with +15/+3 right now... Based on recommendations from the store!

Good job man i hope you enjoy the board . But for your bindings set-up don't go by what the store said and leave it at that. It might be that the store got your stick set-up ideal for you but more than likely its not. Try out many different stance widths and angles to see what is most comfortable for you. Maybe set it on the carpet at your house and stand on it with your snowboarding boots on and see what feels best for you. Also don't be afraid to adjust it on the mountain as well for real time feedback.

There are very few higher end boards that are "bad" for beginners other than boards that are too long/short, or if you get the completely wrong type of board(like an alpine board)..the cheaper ones are sometimes harder to learn on because they usually weigh quite a bit more.

You dont stay a beginner very long typically, within a few trips you should be able to make it down greens/blues depending on your mountain without falling at all or much at all.

Just letting you know you have the flexibility to play with your angles. In my experience, store recommendations arent always the best. Of course, if it works for you, it works.
