Picking a NEW board
Been looking for a Powder board for some time now. 3rd trip to Whistler and have a sled/riding trip planned. I get to pick my runs and its gonna be in the Pemberton area. I have and rode a Prior MFR 168 last time I went up. Great board but the base is slow as balls no matter how I wax it. Switched to Trice 164.5 and the board has taken my riding to another level. But now im looking for a Powder board thats gonna take my experience to another level. Rode a Burton Fish on a heli trip and while it was cool, the only thing it was good for in my opinion was carving and slashing. Im always down for a drop or jump so a board with some pop is also what im looking for. Heres what im looking at:
La Nina: 164
Anybody have any powder input on any of these boards Id love to hear it.
talk to linvillegorge about the charlie slasher. he seems to really like it.
I rode a Jones Hovercraft for two days in one of these past weekends and it was reaaaaally fun for pure powder runs and trees. I think it might not be humanly possible to sink that thing unless you have some major problems, it's affordable, and I didn't have a problem getting pop off of drops(I've never done a cliff so I can't help there)
I can only speak for the Charlie and I love mine. It's a very surfy ride and directional I would say (I never even try to ride it switch). Given its profile, and taper if you size correctly its unsinkable. I am 160lbs in street clothes and I ride a 158cm. I ride a lot of tight trees on pow days at my local hill so 158 gives me super float, but I can still get in and out of trees with out issue. I do very well with jumps and drops on this board as well, due to the newer models having the carbon strings in the nose, helps you from going over the handle bars. I also find the board to be very light weight. So, if you want a less freestyle, more surfy board you can't go wrong with Sir Charles.
I have a charlie slasher and switched to a k2 turbo dream and wont look back, the charlie is a lifeless plank in comparison. The K2 floats equally good in pow and is way more fun everywhere else. I bet a Ultra dream would be even better. Thats what i wold pick for a powder trip.
Out of the ones you selected I would pick the Birdman but get the 170.
think about the yes pick your line
look in too the salomon sick stick.. its a pow beast.
