Another Vans Cirro question...

I bought these boots earlier this season, have ridden them a couple times and now that they're broken in I'm very happy with them except for one thing. The little plastic slide that is supposed to retain the tension in the laces of the liner doesn't grip the cord for shit. The sliding white button part of this piece is supposed to adjust this, but no matter what position it's in this system just will not retain any sort of tension in the inner laces. Anybody else experience this?

These are otherwise great quality, but this particular part feels and performs like it only belongs on a much cheaper boot.

#1) Thanks for at least acknowledging that you're aware other threads on the Cirros exist. If I had a dime for every 'Need help deciding new board' thread that popped up..........

#2) I feel your pain. Same thing happened to me. You'd think after sinking this R&D money into a flagship boa boot, they'd come up with a better lock.

Here's what I did, and it worked like a charm: Go to your nearest fabric or hobby store: Jo-Anne's Fabric, Hobby Lobby, whatever. In their sewing department under the 'Notions' (yes, 'notions', I didn't name it) section they have those little draw cord stops like you find on the cords of your glove cuffs, at the end of your hood laces... Little cylindrical spring loaded plastic widgets that hold laces fast and can be adjusted by squeezing them and sliding them into place. You see them almost every day. By itself it's not strong enough to hold the laces, but untie the end of the liner lace and slide those on WITHOUT removing the stock lace retainers. Then you can slide the stock one down and the new one down ontop of it. Trust me, the laces won't go anywhere.

Thanks for the suggestion, I was thinking something like that might work. Completely agree that this is a weak part of the design, but at least it's low profile so I hope I can find something to add in that won't be too bulky. Off to the fabric store...

the liner quick lace thing is prone to malfunction. i had the same thing, with both my fargos and cirro

the solution for me.... tell Vans. they send you free replacements plus extra bits.

if you have to do this a few times, retain all of your correspondences and forward them together at a later date and ask for some compensation..... i got a free shirt.

brand loyalty doesn't come cheap for the brand nor the consumer. milk it yo!
