Salomon Derby - Shorty Pow board

Has anybody used the Salomon Derby? For those that are unfamiliar with it, it is Josh Dirksen's new board (he used to ride Sick Stick) that is specifically made for deep pow runs through trees and tight spaces.

Looks like a Sick Stick, but it's much shorter and has wider nose width (to make up for the shorter length I'm guessing).

Length wise it only comes in two sizes - 147 and 151. That seems SUPER short to me - I'm 6'0" and 185 geared up. The specs say it can carry a rider over 200 lbs. I'm skeptical!

Anyone try this board?

Interesting right? I did a double take when i saw the length. 151? I started on a 155 and it seemed like a skateboard!

Is there a state for total surface area of a board? Looking at the pic of the Derby compared to the Sick Stick, it's nose width looks bigger...curious how much surface area it actually covers.

Seems like a similar concept to the Yes 420.

YES. SNOWBOARDS ยป The 420
Yeah totally does. Same idea - though the Derby looks more nose wide and tail skinny.

12mm of taper in the 420, either 10mm or 15mm in the Derby, depending on length. Pretty similar.

I haven't. I'd be curious to give one a whirl. I imagine they're a bear on groomers due to the width. I'd also be curious to see how they handle speed with them being that short.

I rode the 147 on a 2 foot day last year. Thing hauls ass in the pow but it's really designed for riding trees like a banked slalom course. It doesn't suck on groomers you can rail Euro Carves.
