PTEX fix on a core shot.

Okay, so it was the last of waterville's season and i was there hit some rails, did some boxes, hit some rocks. Long story short my board now has a coreshot. probably thought i would at the end of the day anyways. Basically what i'm looking for is some advice on how to fix it. I know i light the candle let the ptex drip in, scrape, etc. What i wanna know basically is if there are any tips and tricks. I got a limited bag of tools since im not at home in my garage, im up at school. here's what i have to work with.
Basically a dakine tune kit, and whatever is in the trunk of my car in my toolbox. (no pic of that.)

Heres the zoomed out pic of the gouge.

Zoomed in bottom, this is where the coreshot is.

and zoomed in top, no coreshot but the gouge continues.

So one of my questions is, should i just fill the coreshot or do the whole gouge?
and another one is, if i fix it tonight (currently the board is drying.) will it be good to ride again on wednesday? :dunno: should i use the black ptex on the black portion and the clear on the white? Ive never had to repair a coreshot like this before. Just wanna make sure i do it right since this board is only 4 months old. I kinda feel like i just popped its cherry... :giggle:

I don't think you can do a simple drip-on Ptex repair with core shots.

I think the problem is when dripping the temperature of the drip and the board is too big resulting not enough bond between the new and the old ptex. soldering makes sure the material is tightly joint together.

so you guys think i should run over to tractor supply and pick up a solder? and the ptex candles that i have will they work or should i go down to the shop and get the string? i need this thing back in commission by wednesday. ive got snow to shred.

okay, thanks. I'm trying to do this quick, before my roommate gets back, bec he hates when i work on the board in the room, i always make a mess lol :giggle: but, anyways running out and getting a solder isnt a big deal. I need one anyways. do you think i have enough ptex? the gash is about 12 inches.

should be plenty. the key is melt the old ptex a bit to bond with the new.

i know, its awesome having 3 resorts within 30 minutes of the school, work at one resort get a pass there for free, used money from work to buy 350 dollar zero blackout college pass to other resort, and the school works out a deal with the third where they pay them a fixed sum, and we have a $7.50 copay. can you tell the reason why i chose this place yet? :yahoo:
