Startup Board Company

Yes, everyone you've read that correctly. I've been in the process since January of starting my own board manufacturing company with another friend. We already have one retailer that is interested in seeing samples so this is very exciting. I'm not going to say the name of my company until we make our first sale, so we will just call this "Project X" for now. I want to start off by saying that if you want to make any negative comments, financial or business advice, or even tell me that this is crowded market, please save that for another post because we know! Trust me I've had a solid business plan for a long time now and financials are already in place. I want to find out from you the customer what it is that you are wanting in your boards and board company. I'm here to solely listen to you and offer whatever it is that you are looking for. Are you looking for different designs, board technology, American made, customer service, etc......??? This is for you and you only. There isn't a stupid idea out there so I'm all ears. We want to make the board for you and be there every step of the way!!!

Again, I want to hear from everyone out there that has any ideas about what they want in a board and manufacturer. If you don't have anything at all, thanks for stopping by and I hope to have my board in your hands in the future.

Project X

Erm, shouldn't you already know your target demographic and their needs/wants already if you have a 'solid business plan' in place? You said no business advice, but come on man... who starts a board company without an exact profile of their ideal customer and how they're going to carve their niche in the market out BEFORE they do silly things like financials and finding interested buyers.

You don't even seem to know your own market or how you're going to be different from other board companies. All I got from your post is the sense that you're going to be one of those "By snowboarders for snowboarders!" companies with nothing new to offer.

By the way, you may want to read this post and make an intro video if you want actual help from forum regulars (what you're doing is basically the same as a survey in this instance, especially since it's your first post). If not you're likely to just get a lot of joke posts and insults: http://www.snowboardingforum.com/wel...vertising.html

It never helps when the first post by user is about some new product or survey intro.

UGH another one of these. Just stop, seriously stop. Your initial post comes across as condescending and as if you haven't done any research on what you're trying to do.

Welcome to the snowboard industry, where you are not unique.

Because someone has to call it how they see it!

Generally people start by making some snowboards and see if they work.
