Question Flow Elation Snowboard

I recently bought a flow elation board and after riding it once not harsh at all, it got a huge chip and a bunch of little ones. I thought maybe because there wasn't enough snow so I might've hit some rocks but I don't know. Is this board just a bad board in general?
