Default How much of a difference will I notice in flex?

Hello,

About that time I come back here for the new snow season

Just wondering, I have two decks, ones a 7, the other an 8 (I think) in flex.

Last year it was tough to ride either on near ice slopes - would a lower flex rating make things easier to keep under control?

P.S. My edges are razor blade sharp, the snow was just.. ice.

More flex, less control in ice. Maybe try magnetraction if your already on a camber board. Ice is ice, never easy to ride in.

Only way to deal with ice is straight lining it.

also, flex ratings are not absolute. some brands have high numbers for stiffer boards and low numbers for softer ones. so without knowing what boards you have the flex numbers are useless.

a stiffer board will help a little, but it will still suck.

I've never heard our seen a brand that had 1 as the stiffest rating. 10 is the universal number for the highest rating in stiffeness.

Hahaha, I've done that, its great fun

@TD, They're both Capita, one's a NAS, the other a Totally F*king Awesome deck.

I remember shopping when Magnetraction just came out - wasn't sure if it was a gimmick or something that would actually make a difference. I'll start looking around over the next month and see if I can find anything.

Just flex them both and see which is stiffer and by how much.... That will tell you the difference in their flexibility more than their number....

It'll depend on the boards dimensions mainly. But +1 what Argo said....find out yourself by testing them.
