Default Flex Ratings

Lets compare two boards of the same brand.

Men's board with a flex rating of 5 and a women's board of the same rating of 5 as well. Would you say the women's board is softer than the men's based on the fact that people say women's boards are generally softer? or would they be of the same flex?

I'm gonna say the women's board will be softer, but will completely agree with Jmacphee's comment.

see, ive always wondered why they even put flex rationgs on boards.because my agend was like a five onthe flex rating, but my anthem, a 7, was like intensly stiff.maybe it was just me, but i was like wow. just go test it yourself

hey you guys are right.. i just called up mervin about it.. and they said that a female board and a youth board with the same flex rating doesn't mean it has the same flexibility.. the kids ones is obviously going to be softer so i'd assume that the same would apply with men's and women's boards too.

Don't forget your weight plays a role too while riding. So if you have the same board in diff sizes it will flex differently. Or the same size with two diff people with diff weights.
