Default NS Proto HDX Sizing: 155 or 158?

I have been out of the scene for a bit and I want to jump back in with some new equipment. I can get a killer deal on a 2015 NS proto HDX and after reading all of the reviews it seems like a great board. I am just trying to figure out sizing and would appreciate some help.

Choices: 155 or 158

Height: 6 feet tall
Weight: 170
Boots: size 12
Skill: Intermediate
Area: Utah

I am an ex park rider and want to still be able to play in the park. It will probably breakdown like this
25% park, 50% playing all over the mountain, 25% powder

My current board (which I hate) is a 155 Ride Crush from 2011. Feels like a dead fish and turns terribly. I have an older ride Crush from the camber days I loved. I have also owned a Rome Machine and Graft (back in 2007/2008?)

The 158 is going to be more all-mountain oriented for a guy your size, whereas the 155 will be a little more park friendly for you. For the amount of park you suggested you might ride, I'd lean towards the 158.

Thanks for the reply. I have always had boards in the 154 to 156 range. The only thing I worry about is everyone talking about how the blunted edges and effective edges make the boards feel longer. A 158 that feels closer to a 160 doesn't sound super fun in the park.

I ride a 2014 160 HDX and it's fun anywhere I take it.

If you want to ride park, buy a cheap park board. The terrain that your riding (Utah) and the board your looking at are a good match. Going shorter for park when you only ride 25% of the time is not a good decision, go with the 158, you wont regret it.
