Is my board too big for me?

I am a beginner at snowboarding, but I went a couple of weeks ago and loved it. I decided to purchase my gear because I am going back next week. I really wanted to pick up good gear so I can progress and take advantage of the gear over time. I purchased a Burton Custom X Wide 168 and Burton C02 EST Bindings. I read good reviews of both products. I am 6 ft. tall, 290lbs, and size 13 boots; built like a football player to be accurate. For now, I am just staying in the park. I wanted to get a shorter board (164cm) but the weight on it was rated at 220lbs max. What should I do?

That 168 should work well for you.
