Hi I'm:
5'10" 130 lbs First year riding 08 burton blunt tech Nine MFM pro bindings I'm a new rider, who has a lot of experience with skateboarding; this is my first season of snowboarding though. After a full season of riding, I can hit small jumps and do simple park tricks. The extra speed and height you can get with snowboarding as opposed to skateboarding is still a little scary to me. Or maybe its just that I dont have the balls to go huge. But I love it. I want to go bigger. My question is, I'm looking to get a bataleon board for next season. I love hitting the park (skateboarding roots) but I also love hitting jumps. Obviously I want a board that can do both. I've read a bunch of posts on the Airobic and the Evil Twin. A lot of people are saying the Airobic is too soft for hitting big jumps. Granted I'm still new, I probably wont hit huge jumps anytime soon. However big to me might be small to experienced riders. So what do you guys think? Evil Twin or Airobic for me? thanks! |

At your weight, an Airobic wouldn't be too soft. Depending on what you were hoping to use the Airobic for, either the 147 or 151 would be ideal. 147 for a pure jib board and a 151 for all mountain freestyle. I wouldn't look at a Goliath if you were wanting to really concentrate on jibbing, because the flat part of the base on the Goliath is a lot smaller than the Airobic.
I have an Airobic 159 and while it's soft (I weigh 215lbs), I've still taken it all over the mountain without issue. It's a jib/freestyle board that handles the mountain quite nicely. I still wish it had a sintered base though... |

So no one likes the Evil Twin? BTW how do you read the stiffness index that bataleon provides on their site:
Airobic 151 4-3-4 evil twin 151 6-4-6 According to their stiffness index 1 being the least stiff? and 6 being the stiffest? and I assume the 3 numbers indecate the tail, center, and nose? are all my assumtions correct? |
