Storage in the Summer - Snowboarding Forum

I've searched and found a couple varying opinions about how I should be storing boards for the summer months. I know I should take my bindings off (and already have, as everything in AZ is closed, sadly) but do I store it in a bag, sideways on the floor, standing up, wrapped in cloth, wrapped in cloth in a bag, what?

I have my old board, and a brand new board (Ride Antic) which I still have in the cellophane. Should I take it out of the cellophane, leave it in, etc.

u think about shit to much lol, its not gonna wreak it, just leaning up on a wall, even with the bindings on

(1) Put a super heavy coat of wax on it, and don't scrape it off until next season.
(2) Pull the bindings
(3) Store in cool dry place, maybe out off extended, direct sunlight.
(4) Keep board either standing up, or on the side. Some people claim that by storing the board flat (base side down), the camber can lose some of it's elasticity over time. Again, I am doubtful, but why take the chance?
(5) Take the board, and all your gear, out sometime mid-June. Look at it. Cry. Put it away again. Wait till winter.

Do what Sedition says, unless you're too cool to give a fuck about your board. These cool people usually will have Mommy and Daddy buy them a new one in November anyway, along with a full Burton wardrobe, all at Backcountry retail.

If you don't take the bindings off, at the very least, loosen the screws up. Leaving that much pressure on the threads, binding plates, and internally on the board for 9 months without any use will just leave you with equipment deformations.

No, I buy all my own gear, and definitely don't have enough money to buy another board. If my board is new (never waxed, still in packaging) should I wax it, or leave it?

Also, can I store in in a board bag?

I'd wax it, factory wax sucks, generally.

Bag is better, if for nothing else than added protection from physical damage.

I'd leave the one in factory packaging as is, just in case you change your mind and want to sell it. Otherwise, waxing is fine. It's also good to keep them out of direct light (the bag would be good for that).

I doubt I'll be selling it, short of breaking both my legs and not being able to ride ever again.

@Sedition: One of the reasons I'm putting it away right now is that having it out makes me realize it'll be another 7 and a half months until I can ride again....
