size for any gnu/lib tech board

i'm currently riding a 155 burton custom and a friend of mine convinced me to get a gnu or lib tech with banana tech. he says i can go down 3 cm in size, but i'm kinda sketchy on that idea. i've never tried a banana board yet and i'm looking forward to it.

what i'm trying to ask is what size banana board should i get? i weigh 165 lbs and as i said before i'm currently riding a 155. thanks in advance.

Now, I may be mistaken, so please if someone would correct me if I'm wrong, but I am pretty sure you would maintain the same board size...

From the Gnu website in their description for the Riders Choice BTX

Quote:

New Banana Technology on the proven Riders Choice designs. Zach Leach has been testing his banana all last year and he has found it works great everywhere in any conditions. Banana Tech won Snowboard Mag's platinum award and Innovation of the year. You can ride a banana about 3 cm shorter than your regular board even in pow because they float so well. Your jib board is now your pow board. My opinion... the Choice Banana is one of the best boards ever built (I rode one just the other day.) Ask Nate Farrel and Dennis Buonjourno about their Bananas. Now available in wides.
I'm not sure if this is true or not, I was wondering the same thing. Anyone have experience?

May I ask your source? I don't doubt it, but I just would like to be certain

Here you go.

Yeah, thanks...well damn, that surprises me

Yeah, idk, it seems kinda fishy but I guess they wouldn't post if if they didn't really believe it (maybe?). I'm snagging a 158 wide for next season, if they're bullshitting I might have a board to sell :P

Yeah, I have always gone back and forth on banana's. I might pick one up next season

Any particular board in mind?

There is definitely some truth to what the website says about riding their boards 3cm shorter. I would urge you NOT to get a 158 as I will guarantee you will be disappointed. Banana tech combined with magnetraction allow for an easier performing board...especially when it comes to things like initiating turns. If you are currently riding a 155 I would say go for a 152. If your worried about pow and groomers...don't be. The reverse camber compensates for the lower board height (keeping your speed) and the magnetraction helps you turn alot quicker and easier even at high speeds.
