I was wondering which of these to get to protect my noggin. Both look similar so im not worried about looks but i would like to see any pics you have of you wearing them so i can get a good idea. I am also open to other suggestions for helmets if you think they are better.
i picked up the mutiny at sierra at the end of the season. they look a lot a like so i picked the mutiny for $45 over the bern for $90. apprears to be a pretty nice helmet tho i havent worn it on the slopes yet.
Bern Baker is sized smaller than R.E.D Mutiny. I got a L in Baker before and it was very tight and uncomfortable, got a large Mutiny instead and it fits perfect. Later on tried a Baker XL at the store and it fits pretty good as well.
I'd go for the Bern if you skate or anything. The Bern is a true dual season helmet, the R.E.D. may claim to be, but they look really dumb if you try to wear it to skate.
aren't berns not 'real' helmets hence they're marketed as 'hardhats'? they dont meet some spec in order to be called a helmet i think.. not too sure. if you're getting a bern, get the helmet version.
I bought the Mutiny from Sierra and absolutely HATED it. It didn't fit my head well, looked huge on my head, and was uncomfortable, weirdly shaped. I went down to my local shop, and picked up a Boeri helmet for 65% off, fits perfectly, low profile, and 10x better that the R.E.D.
Go into a local Sports Authority or some other shop that has snow helmets out still and try them all on. I thought i would be wearing a medium helmet...turns out i needed a Small...
Some helmets just felt wrong on my head too ...
Just like boots fit differently on every pwerson helmets fit different heads differently...so go try them on dont blindly buy and return..
I have a mutiny, was the best fit by far for me. All the others I tried on seemed way to round for me. My only complaint is that the ventilation on it sucks, even on a cold day it is way too hot for me, I'll be looking for a vented helmet for next year just hope I can find one that is a similar shape and comfortable.
Wow..just wow..you learn something new about people every day
