DIY Tuning

So for the past few weeks, i've been youtubing/ googling how to tune the edges of a snowboard. I think i've gotten a pretty good idea about how to go about it. I was thinking about picking up a file, fileguide, gummy stone, and diamond stone to try to work on my board. I've got a Burton Bullet, and I'm going to order a 2010 banana when they come out. I want to get a 1 degree bevel on my edges, so I'm planning to practice on my bullet, and then do it on my banana.

My question is: should i trust myself with tuning the banana? I'm really scared of messing it up. How difficult is the process of giving a bevel to the edges of a board?

An actual 1* bevel?! I would take it to a shop. If you just want to detune, DIY. Just my $0.02.

really? is it uncommon to give a 1 degree bevel to the board?

A 1 degree bevel isnt much. What I do with my k2 WWW is detune the nose so its rounded and then detune between the bindings quite a bit also and leave the contact points untouched. That works well for me when I mostly hit rails and medium size kickers, and pipe evry couple of runs. What type of riding do you do? Depending on that it will be easier to tell how you should tune your edges
