Default Help - Burton Mystery or Flight Attendant

I have an 8 year old Custom X and was looking for a new board for this year. Only do Powder or Groomers and no park. Love to Carve. I live in the midwest but will be out west for 12 days this season. Read great reviews of the Flight Attendant, and local shop also raves about the board so I was going to purchase one tomorrow. However, Sierra Trading Post has a 2014 Mystery Flying V for sale today at $740(ish)dollars.

I'm 5'11, 165 lbs, and size 10 boot.

Would you save the coin and go with the FA or spend the $$ for the Mystery. Under normal circumstances I wouldn't consider the Mystery, but for the price it's intriguing.

Don't do the Flying V mystery based on what you've said so far. I have one, if you 'love to carve', and your current board is a custom X you'll be unsatisfied with carving and edge hold, unless you want something more loose and surfy.

And I really love the Mystery, it's a great deck. But my 2nd board is a the vapor, close relative to the custom X, a little more forgiving, but 'loves to carve' as you put it.

Go for the flight attendant, but if you see more powder than groomers consider the juice wagon.

I would get the flight attendant. Seems like you enjoy camber, FA is basically cambered. Mystery flying V is not. Then again almost no one has actually ridden a mystery.

Appreciate the input guys - just to clarify, I love my Custom X, but I'm looking for something a little different (not a replacement for it). Ideally a good all around freeride board.

I have a flight attendant. It's not a custom x, or even close. Forget the Flying V and get the FA. Best board I've ever owned.

Based on what you've said (wanting to try something different), I'd say get the FA. I'll definitely be looking for a new old stock/good condition used one next season as a second board to my PYL.

For the price of the Mystery you could get yourself a Prior Mens Freeride or something, RCR shape, good construction...

Go for the FA. Number one board on my list to demo this winter. Possible the next in my quiver.

Prior makes some good stuff. If you're ever in whistler make sure you do the factory tour on your off day. Well worth the time. Great bunch of people working there.

I used to ride CustomX and SuperModelX and now changed to LandLord and love it! I ordered the new FA for the wife because of the great reviews and recommended by The guys at Burton EU. The perfect pow and groomer board... They bend tested the FA and LL and found the FA to be actually a bit softer but the long camber should do well for carving.

I tried the FA on groomers and it was a dream. Quick edge to edge but stiff and plows through anything. Save the money and go for the FA. For you I would go for the 159.
