Q on what board K2 Turbo Dream or Libtech TRS

Hi Guys,

I am going into my third year boarding. Next time I board, I will be 50. I am 175 - 180 and 5'10" . I will never be in the park, and just like to enjoy the mountain. I am frequently going to Blue Mountain, Camel Back and all over Vermont. I am thinking that I do most of my boarding in severe cold. I have been getting out 15+ days per season, and hope I can increase that.

I have looked and have found to boards from last season. One board is a 156 K2 Turbo Dream, the other is a 159 Libtech TRS. I am not concerned with the cost difference. I think both boards are 40% off of list.

I am not too aggressive on the mountain, yet welcome if equipment can help me on the ice and various North East conditions. Yet, if opportunity arises, would love to go out west. I want a board I can grow into. I am currently using a K2 Dart 150, which I basically got for free. I have K2 Cinch CTX bindings and Burton Ruler boots.

I was wondering if anyone had a recommendation. Is there one I should take over another. The 156 goes right below my chin. Yet, the next K2 TurboDream is not available and would be 159. So I guess I am asking also if I should choose the 159 LibTech or the 156 K2.

Thanks for any responses.

I agree. The TRS with the magna-traction rules out east. Here in Colorado and my few trips up to WY, we do get some "ice" nothing like you guys get though!

I have riden a TRS and it feels great. It was a pow day and really fun. On the groomed spots the thing just ripped.

I hope to win one from Bluebird.....here:

either one will be fine. neither of them has some sort of magical quality that will make you ride better or worse, or cause you to have more fun or less. its just snowboarding. go with your gut and have fun with it.

Actually, the fun factor with the TRS is 75.77% more due to many factors, mostly voodoo.

If you're looking for better edge hold the MTX will work better than the sidecut on the K2.

Because someone has to call it how they see it!

I also have ridden Camelback and can tell you that Magna-Trac will save you, as I own one. So yeah go with magnatraction.

it will? do you have any studies or data to prove this? looking forward to seeing it. this implies the k2 has a lack of edgehold too, right?

Cool

Thank you everyone, for your very helpful responses. I went with the 159 Libtech TRS BTX. I only had one of two options, including the sizes, so MTX or something other was not an option.

Peace,
