The few last badass storms that we had in Colorado last season kicked my ass. There were days so deep my 164 would barely cut it (weigh 175lbs). Im looking at the never summer summit and thinking a 172 would be about perfect for those days. I already have a Burton Bullet 164 I use for some of the deeper days and this board would probably only be pulled out 5 or so times a year when it's just sick deep. Any other suggestions?

you have 3 options, go really long, go really rockered or go really tapered. i used to ride a libtech litigator 173 in the deep stuff but i bought a fish years ago and haven't looked back. the fish rules it, the deeper the snow the better, its a really fun board to ride. last year i bought a gyrator 162 which is a twip tipped (almost) heavily rockerd board. again its way better than riding a super long conventional board, effortless float. long boards are dead to me.

Im pretty sure this years summit is coming with a rocker, and at a good length it seems like it would be a good ride with the pintail nose and tail.

Just for those really deep days.....I already have 2 153'x, a 158, a 161.5 and a 164. Im loaded for most conditions I just don't have that SUPER deep powder board that I could use on the hip deep days. I ride with a guy that has about 30 lbs on me that in almost every situation I just smoke but when it comes to some of the less steep sections he just kills me on float and he's only on a 161. I like being at the front of the pack

I thought about buying a powder specific board this year.....I dunno though. I havent seen that many days when my Evo rocker wont cut the mustard oops I mean powder! That thing rocks in the deep. I can run it centered duck and use it every day! Hmmm Park Pickle or powder board...

Tough call. Im planning on getting a 156 jibpan this year as well so we'll see how much the rocker helps me. I still want an angry pow board for those days that just come out of nowhere.....

I'd say if you are really serious about getting a pow board to get a Maholo or Fish...just going longer wont even compare...

Well experience does tell me that a longer wider board will help in pow period. Im not to up to date on all the BIG time pow boards but I've read a lot of good things about the Summit which is designed to be ridden in powder. I will check out the boards everyone suggests if I can figure out who the hell made them lol.
Oh yeah and Im not a 3 hole kind of guy when it comes to snowboards, I will not buy a Burton for personal reasons.

172 summit is probably going to be a bit too much board for you if youre coming from a 164 bullet
stepchild og 164 can be had for way less than $300 if you look hard enough (as in $220)
