Sold my 2013/14 Never Summer Legacy...now I need something new

i realized, while great, that the Legacy was just too wide for me.

i am cross shopping a variety of boards, all Never Summer (yes, I am a fan boy)

about me:
5'11
195 lbs
size 10.5 boot
skills:intermediate
riding: east coast (ice, groomers, glades, occasional powder)
style: FREERIDE, carving, glade riding. virtually no park.

i am heavily leaning towards the Cobra, but also considering the Snowtrooper and the Ripsaw

this is my second post on this, so i apologize. but now that i officially sold my only stick, i need to figure out my direction ASAP. again, i think I am going Cobra, but if anyone sees a reason to NOT get that, please let me know.

thanks again, you guys rule.

Being that your east coast and not a lot of powder riding I would suggest the Ripsaw or the new West. The camber profile for those two boards are going to be better in icy conditions.

The ripsaw is a twin board and the cobra isn't. Do you ride switch much? if so, perhaps take board shape into consideration. I think the ripsaw is a great board but have zero experience on the cobra.

bump. 'Cause I'm considering the same question.

Not to threadjack you njfastlfie, but I've got a similar riding style to you in Ice Coast riding. Have a line on a great deal for both a Ripsaw X and Cobra X and wondering which one to choose. Cobra seems like a resort board for people who also like tight trees, natural drops and boot-deep pow? Whereas Ripsaw is more for charging all-mtn without as much of a freestyle option? I'm into both.

My biggest question is the difference in float between the two. Based on other rider feedback on this forum, it sounds like the Cobra performs significantly better in pow? But if the Ripsaw is just as good or only marginally worse, I'd rather add a stiffer more aggressive twin to my quiver. Just need the thing to float!

I love my SL 158 on the east coast. Just picked up a Snowtrooper 159. Rode it 4 days in Vail and it was great. Haven't ridden it on east coast yet, so can speak for ice performance.
If you are free riding, I would hold off on ripsaw(true twin) and u may want to wait to checkout the West next season. Snowtrooper specs with ripsaw profile
