Hey everyone, I've ridden once before and am now getting into buying my own equipment. My riding style will be Freeride as I learn and eventually some Freestyling; guessing about 70% Freeride/30% Freestyle.
At any rate my bio info is below as well as the board setup I'm looking at. Bio Info Height: 5'8" Weight: 180lbs Style: Mostly Freeride, some Freestyle Boot Sz: 9.5 (tried on Burton Freestyle, fit well) Proposed setup Board: K2 Illusion 152cm (will that be too short for me?) Bindings: Burton Custom Boots: Burton Freestyle. again, tried them on and they were comfortable Feel free to offer any advice, that's why I'm here. Thanks! |

Boot-wise whatever fits you and YOU think is comfortable will work great.
I think that unless you are really gonna freestyle a lot you may want to look at a board more in the 155-157 cm. range. The Burton Custom bindings are fine, but imo you should check out the Rome Arsenals. They are some pretty damn nice bindings at a cheap price, or if you are looking for a higher end setup the 390s are a great idea as well. Hope this helps!

I'm going to suggest against the Customs and Freestyles. Those two products are what got me to hate most Burton gear. My customs fell apart before the first week ended, and the freestyles were in shreds half way through the season. They were horribly made. Maybe they've changed since I had them. It's your choice.

That's what I was thinking regarding the board. I've found the Illusion for about 1/3 of MSRP and was going to go with that but I was really thinking 154 min. I chose the board because it seems to have gotten good reviews as a new rider board, but I'm open for suggestions. I want to be at $300 max because I am generally a fast learner and plan on putting a lot of time in this season to advance.
The Arsenals are a little more expensive than the Customs on sierrasnowboard.com, albeit not that much, are they worth the ~$30 more? Any other board suggestions? I'm not set on any particular brand, but I've only really checked out Burton and K2 because of a lack of knowledge for the others. |

i would also prabably recommend the rome arsenals, but not from expierience, just that i have heard truckloads of good things about them. Just to throw out some other brands you might want to look into...rome, ride, and soloman (spelling?) are the ones ive heard good things about.
