Default Never Summer vs GNU

I am looking for some advice about which board I should get for this season. Right now I am riding a 2008/2009 Lib Tech TRS MTX 157. I think I want to get a banana/RC board and have narrowed it down to the Never Summer SL and the GNU Altered Genetics (both would be 155). Has anyone compared NS's vario sidecut vs magnetraction?

Thoughts?

Magnetration will sometimes force you into a carve. I prefer the vario sidecut tech much more than the MTX. The vario doesnt have a huge bite but holds up extremely well on ice. This is coming from someone who rides the southeast that that is all we have.

i ride both as well and i gotta say while i love my trs and the mtx carves really well but my evo-r is def a smoother ride. the vario doesnt bite as hard as the mtx would but as long as your an experienced rider it shouldnt matter much

no one can tell you or guess which one you will prefer, it comes down to preference. you can solicit biased subjective opinions all day long if you want. both of those companies make great boards, so just buy the one you're stoked on. its not common that people hate their snowboard, but some people like to blame their equipment, i hope you're not one of them.

I would say go with the NS simply because I feel they have the superior design..

Do you happen to live in Colorado because that's where the plant is at if you have any issues requiring a factory warranty. NS also has the 3 year warranty which is pretty klutch...

My opinion is that NS has the best Reverse or "Rocker" camber design and Bataleon has the best design overall..

But either way I'm sure you will be super stoked with whatever board you get! Good luck and don't get tooooo caught up in the designs of boards ( =

I recommend the Never Summer as well. Just think their quality is top notch.

Thanks for the responses. I'm in the northeast and we have a lot of ice which I found the magne-traction to help with, so it's good to hear that the NS vario is comparable to the magne-traction.

Milo303 - I was considering a bataleon board, but wasn't sure which to get for all mountain THe Jam or the Golaith.

Incogneato - I don't hate or blame my equipment. I like my TRS MTX, but I would also like a RC/Banana board as well. I like both the NS SL and the GNU AG about the same (although I do like the graphics on the GNU a bit better), but the GNU is $150 more than the NS, and I won't pay $150 more just for graphics (hence the vario vs magne question).
