I prefer a 3 degree bevel with a lightly de-tuned edge. If you round it over you you lose a lot of edge control which really sucks when you're setting up for spin tricks.
Echelon boards with the 3D base (basically the Omatic BS base) have fully raised edges to stop you catching on jibs. I dont have a before/after to compare but i have eaten shit on a box when my edge caught on a bur with my last board; but havent caught on anything this year, despite sliding over something sharp enough to put a big scratch through my base.
The raised edges take a bit to get used to though. I spent a few runs boarding like a complete beginner, barely able to make turns, until i realised how much more angle you need to put into it to get an edge. Absolutely love it now though, started being able to land backside 360s on flat - something i could never do before
