Default First Board Advice

Hey all - New snowboarder here looking for a good all around board. I rented all last year and it's time now to buy. I have the boots and burton bindings but I'm struggling with the board decision. I live in MN and looking for a good all around board for groomed trails but would also like to take it out west to the mountains.

A friend of mine who boards a bit had good things to say about the Salomon Drift and I've been reading a bit about the Burton Custom which seems to be a good all around board. Seems that I can buy the 2009 Salomon and Custom ICS for about the same price. If the price is even, is it a no brainer that the Custom is the better all around board? Any other suggestions for just a good all around board? I won't be doing any tricks, rails or jumps really.

Thanks in advance for helping the newbie!
TK

Depending on stats but if u ride normal widths I would check out the Never Summer Premier F1-R and Heritage-R. Freeride madness!

sorry forgot the price which is the biggest obstacle. I'm trying to keep the board under $300 which is a challenge. It seem that there's some decent deals out there for 09 models so hoping I can get a decent 09 model in my price range.

We need to know your stats..height weight shoesize...only weight and shoe size matter unless your a gigantor skinny rail or very short pudge

5'11", 190lbs and size 9 boot. wish i could say the weight was all muscle... I actually picked up the salomon drift but wondering now if that's a mistake and should return it. probably a good enough board but still questioning it. thx again.
