Unhappy Detuning help....

Hi all,

A question:

I was reading about detuning snowboards
got itchy and decided to do it on my board and my sons

I completly shaved and dulled about 2 inches below the widest curve into the tip
and did the same on the tail

then I seen another site that says do not dull below the wides part of the tip....opps too late, now can't get the sharpness

did I make a big mistake?

or will the boards will still be ridable in all mountaine ride scanerio

I appriciate your advice

Did you detune from the widest curve towards the nose and tail, or did you detune towards the midddle

I detuned mostly the nose but also about 2 inches into the middle from the widest point and that is where my concern is I did the same on the tail
i went really aggressive on it.

what do you think?

I've never detuned the middle of the board. If you're a rail rat I can see wanting to detune that part of the edge. A pipe, or freerider I would say ooops! You can get an edge sharpener and sharpen it up in that section. If you get a good edge sharpener, don't grind your edge off. Otherwise you're going to need a base grind.

The other solution is just ride powder all the time. You don't need edges for that...
