Burton - whats the deal

So I was looking at the new boards on dogfunk and saw that some some of the new Burton boards are over $1k.... Have they made some great breakthrough that is driving their price up that much or is it just them being the big B.....

I just can't see spending $1500 on a burton method when I can get a great lib tech for half the price....

They want to see if beginners will fork out 1G+ because they've never heard of another company.

That is just crazy if that is the marketing ploy. I guess the Method did look pretty sick with titanium edges and whatever all the technology they put into it.

Yeah, with Burton you just have to ignore the extreme high end models. Those are there for folks where price is not an issue and they just want the latest Burton technology.

The good thing for the rest of us, is just like luxury cars, Burton tests out the potential of new technology on the high end models and if they are successful, they make there way to the normal boards in a year or two.

true true...i highly doubt they made the board for much more then a prototype, hype kinda thing..

i highly doubt we will be seeing titanium edges on an even close to affordable board anytime soon lol:P

Or you could spend $1800 on the Lib Tech Cygnus X1... Other companies make expensive boards too... I REALLY don't understand why people hate on Burton so much on this board.

I can't say I hate on Burton. I have a Custom X and a T6. The X has been a great board and I hope to get the T6 out this year. Maybe this is the first time I saw a board for over $1500 but that just seems very extreem for a snowboard.
